  • Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2 pounds) of rump steak

  • Roots and stems of large bunch of coriander (cilantro)

  • 1 teaspoon of whole black pepper corns

  • 1-2 cloves of garlic

  • 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • salt

Hints and Tips

Add thinly sliced whole red chilli if you want to spice it up a little.

Firstly, take the steak from refrigerator and bring to room temperature – about 30 minutes,

Remove the stems & roots of the coriander (cilantro) and wash and dry thorougly to remove any trace of dirt or sand.

Add the washed coriander stems & roots to a food processor along with the black pepper, garlic, olive oil & salt.

Blend to a smooth paste.

Rub into the steak and allow to sit for 15 minutes.

Heat a griddle pan and cook for 4 minutes each side.

Remove from the heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes.

Slice steak and serve with coriander leaves and steamed rice.
