Preheat oven to 180C (355F) and grease and line a rectangular baking tray 27cm x 17cm (10 ½ x 6 ½ inch).
Melt butter and golden syrup.
In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, coconut and sultanas and mix. Pour in melted butter and golden syrup and egg. Stir until combined and transfer to the baking tray. Smooth over the surface with a spoon.
Bake for approximately 30 minutes, until golden and set. Cool in tin, remove and cut into squares.
